What is acrylamide and furfuryl alcohol?

Acrylamide is a chemical that can form in some foods during high-temperature cooking processes, such as frying, roasting, and baking. Acrylamide in food forms from sugars and an amino acid that are naturally present in food; it does not come from food packaging or the environment. 

Furfuryl alcohol is a naturally occurring byproduct of heating and can commonly be found in many foods and beverages. 

What is Proposition 65?

Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about exposures to chemicals including acrylamide and furfuryl alcohol. 

This notice only applies to United States residents of the state of California, not to US residents of any other state or territory or to residents of any other country.
